Phobias
The strongest phobias are usually rooted in incidents - often from early childhood - where the person thought they were going to die, or wished that they were dead. The emotions and details of the original terrifying incident are 'forgotten' until something happens that triggers the original fear. Now the fear becomes associated, irrationally, with the details of this new event and a phobia is created. One example was a bird phobia in a 62-year-old woman who had choked on a sweet when she was just 18 months old. At five, she stood up as a parakeet flew across the room from behind and struck her on the same area of the back that was slapped to dislodge the sweet when she was choking in the first incident. Her subconscious mind then linked the two events and recorded the message: This bird has threatened my life, avoid all birds. Because you can only feel in the present, bad feelings from an unpleasant memory come from the way you remember it. Using NLP and Hypnotherapy we erase the links between bad feelings and memories, allowing you to see your past in its true light and conquer your fears. Don't be fooled by your memories, experience life to the full. |
